Hercules was a massive wooden coaster designed by Curtis Summers and built by the Dinn Corporation. As a result of low popularity and increasingly high maintenance costs, Hercules was removed at the close of the 2003 season, and replaced with Hydra the Revenge for 2005. Here you will find photos from the removal of Hercules.

For more information on Hercules check out the ride guide here.

This view once showed a massive wall of wood. The turn over the lake stands all alone over the water. A closer look at the turn on the lake.
A closer look at where Hercules' lift hill and drop once stood. The far turn over Thunder Creek Mountain is slowly coming down. This turn is coming down slowly due to its proximity to several other attractions.
More emptiness of where Hercules once stood. The sun sets on Hercules.

All that remains of Hercules is the turn over the lake and the lower half of the far turn over Thunder Creek Mountain. The turn over Thunder Creek Mountain has been disassembled more from the previous week, but this shows that it had to be removed carefully, due to its close proximity to several attractions.

All photos were taken from outside the park.

Here we can see that the removal of the far turn has begun. Look closely to the left, and it looks like the lift approach still remains. It looks like they are still ripping it apart, just not in big chunks due to this turn being above the Thunder Creek Mountain log flume.
Zoomed up close. A view from the other side of the park, across the parking lot.

Over the weeks prior to this update, crews have been working hard at cleaning up all the wood off the hillside from the demolition of the major portions of Hercules. Throughout this time, all that remains of the ride are the far turn above Thunder Creek Mountain, and the turn over the lake. The day before this update the removal of the far turn began, the last major structure remaining of Hercules.

The drop is now gone. As seen here, most of it is covering the hillside. Wood is everywhere. From another angle we see the base of the drop, and the piles of wood all over the hill side. A truck works on removing the debris.
A look at the wood which once stood as Hercules' drop. The base of the drop awaits its destruction. A truck works on breaking up the structure.
Hercules is now gone from the skyline.

The last remaining portion of Hercules' once record setting first hill is now gone. At this point, all that is left is the base of the drop, turn over the lake, and the far turn over Thunder Creek Mountain.
